⭐Tiny Sparks: My STEM Story

Hi, I’m Jonathon—and this is my STEM story!

Hello Tiny Scientists! My name is Jonathon Wilson, and I’m a software engineer. That means I use coding and software design to create and improve the digital experiences people use every day—like apps, social media platforms, digital storefronts, and more. If people interact with it on a screen, there’s a good chance someone like me helped build it!

My love for technology started early. As a kid, I loved video games and wanted to know how they worked—not just how to play them. I figured out how to emulate games on computers and learned the inner workings of the systems behind them. Once I understood the code, I could master games more easily—and that curiosity stuck with me.

In college, I took an intro to animation course, where I learned the beginnings of coding. Even while working in restaurants, I kept coding in my free time just because I enjoyed it. That passion eventually turned into a full-time career doing what I love.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is taking something big and complex and breaking it down into smaller pieces until the problem is solved. Each solution makes me faster, smarter, and more confident—and that feeling never gets old.

Through technology, I help connect people of all ages to products, experiences, activities, and games. My work creates bridges—removing barriers and increasing accessibility so people can communicate, learn, and explore more easily.

💬 My message for Tiny Scientists: Stay curious. Be bold. Investigate how things work. Coding and engineering aren’t as hard as they seem—they’re methodical, based on cause and effect, and a lot like the scientific method. Kids are already engineers; it’s just about learning how to apply it. Look at me—I loved video games, and now I can help create them.

My STEM story shows that curiosity and persistence are all the fuel you need on your journey to success.
